I am so sorry for what you’re going through. I can only tell you that these kinds of announcements are not made lightly. Without knowing the specifics of this case, I can’t comment on why things were done this way with this particular priest. But, if a priest has undergone close scrutiny for a year or more by a diocesan review board and they still make such an announcement, there is a reason they feel they need to do so.

I appreciate the intensity and the call to our Shepherds to speak the truth, and take appropriate action on that truth. Having worked in the Archdiocese of Newark there was some undercurrent there. I never knew quite what it was, it was there.
I kind of need more from my current Cardinal, he got the process started, this sheep needs something read from the pulpit.
This ugliness needs to end.

Tonight A different issue has greeted the people of my community as the letter was read regarding someone, a priest of our diocese, who has been accused and despite the fact that the diocesan representative did not believe these were credible accusations his name was again read from every pulpit in our diocese were this man has served for the last 40 years. I am as distraught about what is happening to him as you are about the credible accusations against a McKarrick. In this case I would bet my all that this man has done nothing and yet he has spent a year under scrutiny and has been on able to serve in any capacity. It’s almost 2 years. I ask you to pray for this priest in my diocese and for those in authority who have allowed him to under Go such a travesty of justice whose skin are they protecting.
