I find your reflection gives me food for thought, however. My hesitation springs from my conviction that God loves us despite our imperfections. I know I am not worthy to be in God’s but my unworthiness isn’t a problem for God. I can’t imagine a loving God telling someone who has died after a painful illness that she has to go away and suffer some more. Neither can I understand why I need to pray for good people who died many years ago. I do believe we need to be purified but wonder if that purification is completed during the process of death. But I will pray over what you have written and am open to being convinced.

Thanks for both! Thanks for a post full of good Christian optimism/hope. And may the faithful souls rest in peace!
