The fabulous fall season in upstate New York is the perfect time to surround yourself in natural beauty and interior stillness. Step outside the frantic pace of everyday life and reset your rhythm to something more sacred and serene. The annual Stillpoint Retreat is a weekend filled with spiritual practices, prayerful community, and the gorgeous sights and sounds of Pyramid Life Center. Give yourself this time away to reconnect with your own stillpoint, that place within that is grounded in God, where the “still, small voice” of the Spirit can be heard when we quiet the exterior noise. Together we will discover the Divine in our midst and return home with tools to help us set our daily life to a sacred rhythm.

In additional to formal presentations to help you refocus and nourish your spiritual life, this retreat will include Lectio Divina, silent contemplation, journaling and dialogue, mindful movement, music, and more. A period of sacred silence will be observed in the early mornings hours and through breakfast. Optional yoga classes will be offered (outside, if the weather cooperates). Our Saturday night bonfire (weather permitting) has become a favorite way for the Stillpoint community to deepen connections that last beyond the retreat weekend. Join us at Pyramid Life Center, where the beautiful surroundings, the peaceful pace, and the spirit of community and love will help return you to the serenity you seek.

Graymoor Retreat Weekend: The Journey Is the Goal

Join me for a weekend retreat on the Holy Mountain of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement from Friday, Sept. 19, through Sunday, Sept. 21. Centered on the theme “The Journey Is the Goal: Learning to See Our Life as a Pilgrimage,” this retreat will allow us to step outside the fray of the busy world around us and explore the possibility that exists within the details of our days. When we are willing to approach life as a never-ending pilgrimage rather than a rat race, we begin to find more meaning, more beauty, more joy right where we are at any given moment, even the challenging ones. Come away for a few days and take the first steps on the pilgrim journey, one that requires no passport or plane ticket. We are all pilgrims on the Way.

In addition to formal presentations, this retreat will include journaling, dialogue, music, movement, and more. Optional yoga classes will be offered. There will be a limited number of spiritual direction appointments available for those interested. And there will be plenty of free time to rest, pray, and enjoy the beauty of Graymoor, which includes acres of land for walking, many beautiful chapels (indoor and out), a wonderful bookstore, a thrift store, and even an art exhibit. A little bit of everything. Join us!

October Wednesday Yoga Series at Dominican Retreat Center

Join me for a four-week Gentle yoga series on Wednesdays in October from 10 to 11 a.m. at Dominican Retreat & Conference Center in Niskayuna. Come for one class, two classes, or every class. Your choice! Just bring a yoga mat. If you happen to have yoga blocks or a small cushion to sit on, those are great props to have on hand. Dates will be Wednesdays, October 1, 8, 22, and 29. (NO class Oct. 15).
